dc Frida
i can see you Frida in your garden
the ever changing blue of the walls
the chatting of parrots and monkeys
you, an exotic flower amid it all
i can see you Frida
clever eyes in the mirror
painting
happy and sad
lonely and loved
desperate and hoping
drugged and bereft
painting
your name as strong as your gaze
your posture upright and proud
trying to defeat the pain
passion is calling out
they've told me many stories
trying to 'explain' you that way
still i look for your truth in your paintings
listening for what you have to say
thanks dear Patrice for this theme.
Frida will always be an inspiration,
as you will find out at Patrice's beautiful place.
fine weekend to you all

dc the trickster
quick, slick and clever
king and queen
fool and beggar
air
water
a mountain
a mouse
going her own way
fearless and undaunted
you hear her laughter
you turn your head
she is already gone
thanks to the ever inspiring Veronica we got a wonderful theme.
you can visit her lovely blog to find out about the other creative souls
playing with 'the trickster'
sunny weekend to you

dc coat (or two)
from the moment i got Patrice's invitation to a dc
themed 'coat', images began to built up in my head.
there was that idea of the garden wearing a new coat now for sure.
the only thing i lacked was time to put the image onto paper.
but with one eye on the clock i started painting.
after uploading the result i wasn't quite pleased about certain parts.
but time was up.
so later on and back home i decided to finish the gouache.
i made myself a cup of coffee and sat down.
the next moment i pushed over my cup and there was a gouache with a big coffee stain.
sigh
ok, no dc for me after all...
while tearing up the 'garden coat' an idea came to the rescue.
this is a challenge after all.
et voila
please have a look at Patrice's beautiful blog,
we are all wearing coats this weekend.
fine weekend to you

garden in april
the garden shows signs of spring, no doubt,
but lady winter is stretching her farewell.
each day i look up at the magnolia buds
that have to brave heavy winds and are in need for
some warmer days, just like me.
garden work is so much more enjoyable when the sun is out.
but the days are longing fearlessly and the chocolate eggs pure delight.
happy hollidays to you
enjoy
