drawing challenge/ crow

It's early morning on a promising summerday,
i'm sitting in the kitchen with my grandson (one year and a half now),
his mum having a good sleep.
He has a good appetite in the morning, i have not, but  eating
together is so nice.
He puts his little forefinger to his ear when he hears an unusual or unknown sound.
Yes, i say, een vogel (a bird), een kraai (a crow), kraa-kraa-kraa,
he imitates the sound too and we both laugh.
I do love crows.

Above; old sketchbook page and a detail of an unfinished gouache i'm working on at
the moment, tittled 'summerdress' but (lucky me) there's also a crow involved.
So dear Carole, as crows are dear to me, i could not but participate.
Please have a look at  lovely Carole's interesting blog for more crows.

good weekend to you all

Drawing challenge / Treehouse

A few weeks ago, to be exactly the 14th of June i had
been mowing the lawn.
It was a warm and sunny, but rather windy day and afterwards
i was sitting under the birches enjoying a cool drink and the
sight, as well as the scent, of freshly mown grass.
When suddenly i heard an unfamiliar sound above
my head.

Looking up i saw a big sheet of paper falling out of a birch tree,
and ening up there, before my very eyes, was a plan of a house.
I was pretty amazed (and yes they are building a new house in a
neighboring street) and my imagination kicked off  :)
; a house falling out of the trees, a treehouse...

During the following weeks an image came into my head and just
when i had started to paint ' the treehouse',
sweet energetic Rachel came up with the theme of this week
TREEHOUSE!

so here is my treehouse

have a lovely weekend!

Collecting colours...

that's what i do now
i'm surrounded by them, from my kitchen window
to the kitchen garden
i store them, file them, memorize them
a stock for grey and dark days still faraway
a supply in my head that i can call back to life with paint

these are the days of colours
the enchanting days
swimming and diving into color
